Fall 2010
On Thursday, September, 23, 2010, Taylor and Francis sent an email blast to ATTW members. If you know your dues are current but you didn't get an email, please contact Susan Popham, ATTW membership chair at spopham@memphis.edu. She can check your membership history and provide you with current information.
In addition to helping us verify membership statuses, the email announced the following news: In approximately one month, members will receive an invitation to participate in the ATTW Communications Survey. Only members will be able to complete the survey, so it's important that you sort out any membership issues before mid-October.
Responses to this survey will direct the ATTW Executive Committee and the Communications Sub-committee as they update and shape the contents of the association's web site, newsletter, conference, and journal. The survey is also designed to provide us with basic demographic information about our membership. Because survey responses will impact ATTW's communication with its members, your participation is important. Please watch for the survey invitation and respond as quickly as possible. We appreciate your membership and support of ATTW.
Finally, if you haven't already, you'll probably soon be noticing changes in the ATTW web site. Because of security problems, the old ATTW web site has been deactivated. Right now, we have a simple HTML web site/placeholder at our URL: http://www.attw.org, thanks to Brian Still. Meanwhile, our webmaster Pavel Zemliansky has transferred the old web site's content to a new Drupal-based web site, which will provide us with increased security and eventually a facelift and new functionality. We are currently moving the Drupal site to a commercial web hosting service that will keep the web site technology updated and secure. A beta version of the new and improved ATTW web site will be ready for your review by this spring's conference. In the meantime, please be aware that the listserv is the best way of distributing information about job openings this fall.
I want to thank you for your patience as we work to improve our web site's security, functionality, and membership tracking services. Your ATTW executive committee remains committed to serving you better. These transitional changes are inconveniences, to be sure, but we continue to work to respond to your needs and concerns. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know: kelli.cargilecook@ttu.edu.
