The Communication Committee of the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW) is sponsoring a contest to design a logo for use in many of its newly redesigned communication channels. This contest will provide an opportunity for students and faculty members to employ their visual communication skills. The winning designer will win $100. Up to two honorable mentions of $50 each may be awarded as well.
Logo submissions as e-mail attachments are due by midnight (Eastern) on January 1, 2012 to Dr. Marj Rush Hovde at mhovde@iupui.edu
Judging will be completed by January 20, 2012. (Afterwards, the Communication Committee may ask for slight modifications of the winning logo, as needed.)
The winning logo, pending approval by the ATTW Executive Committee, will be unveiled with materials for the ATTW Conference in March 2012.
Each designer may submit only one logo to the contest.
A designer should submit the logo in a color version and a grayscale version in a .pdf document. The background should be transparent. (The winner will need to submit the logo in an Illustrator or Photoshop file format after the judging is completed.)
The winning logo will become the property of ATTW, although the designer can use it as an example of his/her work in a portfolio or similar context.
Logos should be submitted with a separate page indicating the designer’s name, contact information, a statement granting ATTW permission to use the logo, and a one-paragraph rationale for the logo’s design.
Judges, drawn from the leadership of ATTW, will evaluate the logos based on the requirements listed above. The judges will not know the designer’s identity prior to their decisions. All judges’ decisions will be final.
