The journal Rhetoric Society Quarterly has put out a call for guest editors to create a special issue on timely topics in rhetorical studies by scholars working in related areas. We feel that fat acceptance and activism are quite timely and would like to take this opportunity to put Fat Studies—the scholarly manifestation of fat acceptance and activism—in a more central spotlight. Thus, we would like to co-edit this special issue and seek submissions of critical and fat-positive essays on the rhetorical intersections within Fat Studies. The collection, titled The Rhetorics of Fat Stigma and Fat Acceptance, will explore and identify the rhetorical constructions of both stigma and pride.
The following topics would be ideal for this collection, but we invite any scholarly explorations of rhetoric and fat studies:
