MLA Session on Professional and Technical Communication:
Current Issues and Challenges

Our increasingly global society poses many interesting challenges for technical and professional communication educators. We seek proposals in the following areas:
  • The role of Professional and Technical Communication in Community Literacy and Service Learning: explore the contexts and challenges in connecting students with community-based writing and projects in non-academic settings.
  • Professional and Technical Communication and Sustainability, Ecology, and Environmental Communication: examine the role of communicators in focusing public/political attention on the growing problems of sustainability in the environment.
  • Professional and Technical Communication and Transnational Work: explain and discuss the changes that transnationalism brings to communication instruction including telecommunication, immigration and/or globalization
